The employment certificate is prepared by the ex-employer at theex-employee's request, following the termination of his/her employment contract, dismissal, individual layoff or layoff of more than 6 months.
The sole purpose of this certificate is to identify the period during which the ex-employee held a position within the company, as well as the various functions and tasks entrusted to him/her during this period.
Under no circumstances should the ex-employer mention the quality of the work or the conduct of the ex-employee in the employment certificate. However, the certificate must include the name and address of the former employer.
It is important not to confuse the work certificate with a letter of recommendation. A certificate is limited to establishing the period of employment and describing the ex-employee's duties within the company, whereas a letter of recommendation highlights the ex-employee's qualities, skills and experience with a view to future recruitment. In addition, a Record of Employment (ROE) issued to an ex-employee attests to the number of insurable hours worked.
Our employment certificate is suitable for all situations where an ex-employee, whether dismissed, individually laid off, laid off for more than 6 months, or has completed his or her contract, requests such a document from his or her former employer.
